February 17th, 2013

Sixteen NIU members and supporters ventured out to attend the luncheon. Dorothy Modler brought along three supporters. As usual, the food and friendly conversations were abundant. We all hope for better weather for our next rally in April at our usual haunt, the Amboy 4H Fairgrounds.

October 12 -14 – Fall/Installation Rally – October 12 -14th Amboy, IL

September 5th, 2012

Eleven trailers came for the weekend and three additional couples drove in Saturday for the Thanksgivings dinner.  New members, LeAnn Spencer and Steve Duke brought their new 2013  28 Ft front bedroom Eddie Bauer, with a  rear hatch.  With the hatch up and the bug screen down, you have  that outdoor dining experience.  You can take down the table and can load kayaks or bikes through the hatch.  The trailer has 16 inch aluminum wheels and wider tires.  It is a really versatile trailer.  They put 4,500 miles on it touring the  Rocky Mountain parks this fall.   Brian and Mark brought their new 25 foot trailer.

The weather wasn’t the best this weekend: cool temperatures, wind and rain.  We were happy to have a warm building for our indoor activities.  Brian McFarland was elected  president for a second year.  Bob Whitesell will be first vice and Dave Mayo was installed as second vice.   Bob Koch will remain as treasurer and Jean DeHahn will be secretary.  Dwight Dixon and Hal Withey were elected directors for two years and Mark Pankow will fill in for Harry Jamison’s second year as director.  Past President, Carol Dixon, performed the installations. Many enjoyed playing Jokers and other indoor activities.

There was an open house viewing of various rigs, and many fun games of joker and bean bag baseball. Barry & Karen Bell did a great job. Lots of good food. A very successful rally! Fifty trailers attended. Four couples plus Bonnie Nester from Northern Illinois attended. Details on the Region 5 Website: Click here

Shabonna Rally – July 20 -22

June 4th, 2012

Nine WBCCI couples and one guest family attended the rally at Shabonna Lake State Park .  There were no scheduled  activities, except the Saturday dinner, with the club buying the hamburgers.  Everything else was “do what you want”.  Jim Matkovich did the hamburgers over an open campfire, Dwight Dixon used a turkey burner to make corn on the cob and Delores Mayo reverted to charcoal to power her dutch oven to make a peach cobbler after her new propane powered “Volocano” was too hot on the bottom and not hot enough on top.  Some people tried fishing, but the fish were not cooperating, so they just took a nice boat ride.  Many members partook of the Friday Fish Fry at the park cafe.

On Saturday,  Waterman (5 miles away) was having its Summerfest, so some attended to see: “The Parade of Power” antique tractors, putt putt engines, antique truck show, and the the lawn tractor “tractor pull” contest.

We were thankful for the air conditioners and the  30 amp service to run them.   Brian and Mark were driving back to St. Louis on Monday to pick up their new 25 ft Flying Cloud.
